No thresholds to maintain
The agent derives the expected range per metric from the history. Nothing to configure up front, and nothing to revisit each time the business changes shape.
Qlik Product · Discovery Agent
Rule-based alerting only catches what somebody thought to configure, and the rules go stale as the business moves. Discovery Agent watches your Qlik apps in the background, works out what a normal range looks like, and reports what fell outside it.
Qlik Discovery Agent is the anomaly detection agent in Qlik Cloud Analytics. It runs continuously against your existing apps, looks for meaningful movement in the data, ranks what it finds and explains it in plain language. There are no thresholds to set and no alert conditions to keep current: the agent builds a dynamic baseline per metric from the history and flags what falls outside the expected range, so the baseline moves as the business moves. Because it runs on the Qlik associative engine it can weigh many dimensions at once rather than one metric in isolation, which is the difference between a real signal and a number that happens to be high this week. It sits alongside Qlik Predict and Qlik Answers in the same platform, so a finding can be questioned and acted on without leaving Qlik.
Core capabilities
The agent derives the expected range per metric from the history. Nothing to configure up front, and nothing to revisit each time the business changes shape.
It runs on the Qlik associative engine, so it weighs many dimensions at once instead of checking a number in isolation. Fewer false alarms.
Findings arrive sorted by significance and written as a sentence, so someone outside the analytics team can act on them without a translation step.
It points at your existing Qlik Cloud apps. No second data model, no parallel environment to keep in step with the first one.
Use cases
The work is not installing it. The work is choosing which apps and metrics deserve an agent watching them, and deciding who acts on a finding. cimt does that with you in the first weeks.
| Use case | Description | Sector |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue drifting quietly | A region or product line moves off its own pattern weeks before the monthly report makes it visible | All sectors |
| A source system that changed | An upstream system starts delivering differently and the figures shift before anyone thinks to file a ticket | All sectors |
| Cost creep | Spend on a supplier, a cloud service or a channel climbs gradually, which is exactly what a threshold alert never catches | All sectors |
| Shifting demand | A change in what customers actually buy, caught while there is still time to reorder | Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics |

Frequently asked
A data alert fires on a condition you wrote yourself, so it can only catch what you already suspected. Discovery Agent has no condition: it derives the expected range from the data and reports departures from it. The two are complementary. Keep hard rules for things with a real limit, such as a contractual SLA or a regulatory ceiling, and let the agent cover everything you would never have thought to write a rule for.
It ranks by significance and surfaces what matters rather than everything it notices, so the volume is manageable from the start. The real tuning is upstream: deciding which apps and which metrics are worth watching. Point an agent at every app you own and you will get noise, the same as with any monitoring tool.
It needs to be consistent more than it needs to be perfect. An agent watching a source that changes shape unpredictably will faithfully report the source, not the business, and that is useful exactly once. This is why we look at data quality and lineage before switching agents on, usually through Qlik Talend Cloud and the Trust Score.
Discovery Agent is part of the agentic capability set in Qlik Cloud Analytics, so availability depends on your edition and capacity. We check your current contract first. As Elite Partner we have direct access to Qlik volume pricing if an upgrade turns out to be needed.
