Qlik Agentic Data Engineering is now GA: what's new

Qlik makes Agentic Data Engineering GA in Qlik Talend Cloud. The new AI agents for catalog, data quality and data products, and what they mean for governance.

On 30 June 2026 Qlik made Agentic Data Engineering generally available (GA) in Qlik Talend Cloud, with a subset of the capabilities also in Qlik Cloud Analytics. What Qlik has been showing at Qlik Connect 2026 and on its AI Reality Tour is now available. That tour reached Rotterdam a week earlier.

Agentic Data Engineering brings AI assistance directly into the data engineering workflow: purpose-built agents and declarative workflows that help teams deliver trusted, AI-ready data faster, without giving up governance or control.

What is available now

Catalog & Business Glossary AgentAutomatically generates the business catalog and glossary, so data assets are accurately defined and discoverable, by humans and AI systems alike. The documentation work that normally always lags behind, now kept current.
Data Quality AgentLets you define, refine and monitor data quality rules in natural language. A business owner can formulate a quality rule themselves, without first needing a technical specialist. That removes a barrier to governance.
Data Product AgentManages the full lifecycle of trusted, AI-ready data products through a conversational interface, with built-in validation and dependency checks. You move from loose datasets to reusable, governed data products.
Declarative PipelinesData engineers use their own AI coding agents (for example Claude Code or GitHub Copilot) to generate and modify pipelines, based on governed context from Qlik Talend Cloud. You build faster with the tools you already use, while definitions and lineage stay governed.
Expanded MCP toolsAuthorised AI clients get access to Qlik capabilities while enterprise controls are preserved. How MCP connects data and AI without giving up your data, we explain in Qlik MCP Server.

Also new: agentic analytics

Two more agents are GA in Qlik Cloud on the analytics side, with a third on the roadmap:

Automate AgentTriggers workflows and actions in downstream systems from natural-language prompts, so an insight can turn into a next step without hand-building the automation.
Predict AgentBuilds machine-learning models, generates predictions and explains the results, all inside Qlik Cloud.

The broader Qlik Analytics Agent is planned for Q3 2026.

Why agents raise the bar for governance

The three data engineering agents map onto core disciplines of the DAMA DMBoK framework. That is exactly the ground we work on daily.

Catalog & Business Glossary AgentMetadata Management
Data Quality AgentData Quality
Data Product AgentData Architecture & data products

An agent accelerates execution. It does not replace the foundation. Run the Catalog Agent on messy metadata and you get tidy documentation of a mess. Let the Data Quality Agent define rules before anyone has established what “correct” means for the business, and you will confidently monitor the wrong things. Agentic Data Engineering therefore makes governance a prerequisite.

The agents help build the foundation. They can't decide what "good" means for your business.

That was the through line at the AI Reality Tour in Rotterdam too: the organisations making the move from AI experiment to production do so not because of a better model, but because of the trusted data underneath.

When this is relevant for you

You already work with Qlik Talend Cloud or Qlik Cloud and want to adopt the new agents without letting go of your governance agreements.
You are preparing data for AI and want to speed up catalog, data quality and data products without giving up control.
You are unsure whether your data foundation is ready for agents to run on top of it. That is the question to answer first.

cimt is a Qlik Elite Partner and helps set up these capabilities: from data ownership, definitions and data models to the configuration of the agents themselves. Our AI Data Readiness approach is built around exactly the questions this release raises.

Frequently asked

About Qlik

What is Agentic Data Engineering?

It is Qlik's approach where purpose-built AI agents and declarative workflows automate finding, defining, evaluating and delivering trusted data, inside the governance of Qlik Talend Cloud. The goal is to move trusted, AI-ready data into production faster.

In which Qlik products is it available?

The data engineering agents are GA in Qlik Talend Cloud (a subset also in Qlik Cloud Analytics). Automate Agent and Predict Agent are GA in Qlik Cloud. The broader Qlik Analytics Agent is planned for Q3 2026.

Do I still need data governance if agents do the work?

Yes. The agents accelerate execution, but they build on your metadata, quality definitions and data models. Without a governed foundation they deliver unreliable results faster. Get the foundation right first, then put the agents on top.
